Study in Cyprus Scholarship for Nigerian StudentsThis information is meant for Nigerians or Africans planing on furthering their education abroad. It explains why Cyprus may be a preferred study destination and details how you can get and apply for Study Abroad Scholarships in Cyprus.

Nigerians who plan to study in Cyprus or in other countries abroad are faced with multiple challenges from getting the right University, going through the applications process, securing admission, financing their study, getting a visa etc. Financing your study abroad becomes important due to high tuition fees, higher living costs and because Nigerians are often not eligible for most student grants and loans offered abroad.

Students, studying in Europe access over 10 billion Euro worth of scholarships and study grants each year. Unfortunately, Nigerians and Africans are not eligible for most of these scholarships and grant. Nigerians and Africans will be glad to learn that a lot of the Scholarships and student loans in Cyprus are accessible to you.

Imperial Educational Services is the Official Nigerian Representative to the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. The University of Nicosia is the largest independent institution of higher education in Cyprus, combining the best elements of Western education, quality standards and an international philosophy. With instruction in English and an emphasis on critical thinking and lifelong learning skills, the University of Nicosia’s diverse range of academic programmes at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level prepare students for leadership roles in the private and public sectors.

Students from Nigeria can benefit from the various scholarships and financial aids available to full-time and distant learning students, This can come in the form of merit scholarships, athletics scholarships, and on-campus work-study programmes. All types of scholarships/financial aid available have been categorised into undergraduate and MBA scholarship and are explained below:

UNDERGRADUATE STUDY IN CYPRUS SCHOLARSHIP[UNIVERSITY OF NICOSIA]

Academic Merit Scholarships – Based on Academic Performance at the University

Two regular semesters after the student first registers and every semester thereafter, scholarships will be awarded according to the student’s performance at the University, as follows:

In order to be eligible for this type of scholarship, students must have:

  1. full-time status,
  2. completed a minimum of 30 credits at the University and
  3. been registered in the previous semester

Athletics Scholarships

Students who are actively involved in the University sports teams may be eligible to receive athletic scholarships of up to 40% of their tuition fees.The exact amount of scholarships will be determined after the relevant application and selection is made. The sport category as well as student’s contribution and performance to the various sports and other University activities will determine the scholarship amount.

On Campus Work-Study Programme

A limited number of part-time, on-campus internships  are available to students who have demonstrated exceptional potential in extra-curricular activities and academic performance. Students are compensated in the form of tuition discount. Available internships are announced at the beginning of every semester and details are posted on the main board of the University and the intranet.

UNICAF ONLINE MBA SCHOLARSHIP [UNIVERSITY OF NICOSIA]

The University of Nicosia in partnership with UNICAF launched a very generous Scholarship Programme to gifted underprivileged students from Africa. As the Official Nigerian Representative to the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, Imperial Educational Services has been helping students from Nigeria and Africa to access this Scholarship grants. The regular BA Business, MBA & M.Ed programmes tuition fees for distance learning at the University of Nicosia is €10,000 out of which UNICAF subsidises €8,000. Students that qualify and are studying towards the distance learning programmes will therefore pay ONLY €2000.

Scholarship Eligibility
To apply for the UNICAF Scholarship Programme, candidates should:
Be a permanent resident of an African country or Mauritius.
Be earning less than €15,000 per year
Be available to commence their academic studies within 6 months from the date of receiving admission.
Meet the entry requirements of the respective programme of study.
